What Will the Body Shape Calculator Do?
Human body shape is primarily determined by skeletal structure and fat distribution patterns across the bust, waist, and hips. Rather than subjective visual guesswork, our upcoming calculator uses standardized mathematical relationships between these key circumference measurements.
By analyzing relative proportions rather than body weight alone, the calculator helps you understand your body geometry for better clothing fit, styling choices, and personal health metrics such as the Waist-to-Hip ratio (WHR).
Body Shape Categories Explained
Hourglass
Characterized by roughly equal bust and hip measurements, paired with a significantly narrower, well-defined waist (typically at least 25% smaller than the bust and hips).
Pear (Triangle / Spoon)
Defined by hips that are noticeably wider than the bust and shoulders, accompanied by a smaller bust and a defined waistline.
Rectangle (Banana / Athletic)
Bust, waist, and hip circumferences are relatively uniform, with waist measurement remaining within 25% of bust and hip dimensions, creating a straight silhouette.
Inverted Triangle
Shoulders or bust measurements are considerably broader than the hips and thighs, creating an inverted triangular profile that tapers downward.
Apple (Round)
Weight and volume are predominantly concentrated around the midsection and bust, with a waist circumference that equals or exceeds bust and hip measurements.
How to Prepare Your Measurements
When the calculator launches, you will need four quick measurements taken with a flexible tape measure:
- 1.Bust: Measure around the fullest point of the bust while wearing a comfortable, non-padded bra.
- 2.Natural Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, typically 1 to 2 inches above the navel.
- 3.High Hip: Measure around the top of your hip bones (iliac crest), right where your hip curve begins.
- 4.Lower Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your buttocks and hips with feet together.
